YCI Rolls Out XV-1020A Vertical Machining Center with New Fanuc MXP-100i Control
Santa Fe Springs, Calif. (May 18, 2001) —
YCI, Inc., a leading manufacturer of CNC machine tools, has rolled out its XV-1020A vertical machining center equipped with the new FANUC MXP-100i control, FANUC AC digital servo motor and absolute encoder. The new FANUC control is loaded with features required for the job shop environment, such as a 8.4" color LCD monitor, high-speed rigid tapping, programmable coolant nozzle, helical interpolation, 640 meters memory, custom macro B, tool path graphics, and PCMCIA slot for memory expansion and modem.
The machine's powerful 20 HP, 8000rpm spindle is powered by FANUC AC digital spindle drives. The unique IDD (Isolated Direct Drive) spindle design virtually eliminates problems such as vibration, noise and thermal growth, which are normally found in other spindle design. The IDD spindle design also improves spindle life and accuracy. All three axes travel at the rapid speed of 945 ipm. With the servomotors directly coupled to the ballscrews, the machine axial movements are free of backlash effect, which allows fast and accurate axial movement.

A standard programmable coolant nozzle improves cutting efficiency and reduces setup time. Additional productivity-enhancing features include a THK NR linear guide with low friction movement on X-Y-Z axes, high precision contouring function (AICC), an RS232C interface, full alphanumeric keyboard, a spindle air curtain, automatic central lubrication system, pre-tensioned hardened and ground ballscrews, oil skimmer, and full chip and coolant guards. |
The XV-1020A offers industry-leading reliability and durability. The saddle is strengthened with a dual-deck ribbed casting for handling high-speed movement. In addition, an extremely rigid cast base stabilizes the machine during high-speed cutting while minimizing the effects of vibration. The spiral-type conveyor provides for an easy chip disposal system. Table size is 44" x 20.4" and has a capacity of 1100 lbs. Table positioning has an accuracy of ±0.00016" and repeatability of ±0.00008". To optimize production flow and efficiency, the XV-1020A also features a 24-tool swing-arm ATC system with a 2.5 second tool-to-tool change time.
