New Vertical Machining Center Features Fanuc MXP100i Control

with Fanuc AC Digital Servo Motor and Absolute Encoder

YCI Supermax, a leading manufacturer of CNC and conventional machine tools, has introduced its new TCV-51T Vertical Machining Center to the job and production shop market. Equipped with a unique Isolated Direct Drive (IDD) spindle design for less vibration, lower noise and temperature, and improved spindle life and accuracy, the machining center features a 7.5 HP AC digital drive that provides a spindle speed of 12,000 rpm with optional 15,000 rpm. Driven by a servomotor, the high-speed rotary mechanism makes one cycle of pallet change in 3 seconds.

Spindle chillers are standard to prolong spindle life. All 3-axis travel is at the rapid feed rate of 1890 ipm. With the servomotors directly coupled to the ballscrews, backlash and ballscrew temperature is maintained at a low level. X-axis travel is 20Ó, Y-axis travel is 12.6Ó, and Z-axis is 11.8Ó. Table size is 25.60Ó x 14.37Ó with a load capacity of 176 pounds. The machine base is ergonomically designed to efficiently centralize chips for easy disposal. Compact design minimizes floor space and is only 66Ó wide. Total machine weight is 11,594 pounds.

The new Fanuc MXP100i control is equipped with a Fanuc AC digital servo motor and absolute encoder. Additional features include an RS-232C interface, a full alphanumeric keyboard, high-speed rigid tapping, and helical interpolation. Rugged MeehaniteÒ castings provide for optimum structural stability and exceptional vibration damping. A high-speed, 16 tool (24 tool optional) swing arm ATC system changes from tool to tool in less than 1 second. Maximum tool weight is 8.8 lb while maximum length is 7.8Ó. Table positioning accuracy is ±0.00016Ó with a repeatability of ±0.00008Ó.

The spindle air blast system protects the tool taper from chips and eliminates run-out caused by chips on tool shanks. In addition, the machining center offers a spindle air blast, full chip and coolant guards, an oil skimmer, and handheld coolant gun and air nozzle. ECO-technology is implemented with self-lubricated linear motion guides and ballscrew. The highly efficient lubrication system requires refilling only twice a year. This new system is designed to be environmentally conscious while reducing the cost of lubrication oil changes.
