HIGH HORSEPOWER SPINDLE DESIGN MAKES NEW VERTICAL BRIDGE MACHINING CENTER IDEAL FOR MOLD AND DIE APPPLICATIONS

SANTA FE SPRINGS, Calif. - (August 30, 2000)

YCI Supermax, a leading manufacturer of CNC and conventional machine tools, has introduced its new FP120A bridge-style machining center for the mold and die market. The FP120A’s high speed and high horsepower spindle design make it ideal for rough cutting and fine finish cutting.

The FP120A’s specially designed bridge-structure ensures perfect load distribution and pinpoint accuracy. A 30 HP Cytec® AC digital motor powers the spindle to speeds ranging from 60 to 20,000 RPM to meet the fast turnaround required by today’s mold and die shops. The machine offers a vast array of additional productivity features, including: an Oilmatic oil/air mist spindle bearing lubrication system for consistent precision during extended machining processes; swivel control panel for ease of operation, and a 20-tool carousel-type ATC system. The ATC’s large tool capacity allows permanent-set tooling to be stored in the magazine, minimizing tool set-up time for efficient and versatile operation.

The FP120A’s X-Y travel of 47.2" x 39.3" provide a generous working envelope to meet a variety of work piece requirements. In addition, X-Y travel features a new NR type linear motion guide. Z-axis travel is 21.6". Positioning accuracy of the X-Y-Z axes is ± 0.00016" with repeatability of ± 0.00008". All axes have a rapid traverse rate of 709 IPM with a full table load (3,300 lbs).

To complement the FP120A’s top machining performance, the system also boasts a special high-speed software package comprised of a 64 bit RISC processor, state-of-the-art Fanuc High Precision Contour Control (HPCC) software with full alphanumeric keyboard, high-speed rigid tapping, 2 GB hard disk, and NURBS interpolation.

The FP120A’s MeehaniteÒ castings provide users with a rugged and rigid machine construction for the heaviest cutting jobs. Precision hardened and ground, pre-loaded ball screws increase longevity and are direct coupled by the servo motors for increased reliability. Machine weight is 23,152 lbs with floor space dimensions at 11’2" W x 13’9" D x 11’10" H. Power consumption is 40 KVA. Available for immediate delivery, the FP120A offers the best value and performance of any machining center in its class.
